Dr. Seuss Activities

Students will read Dr. Seuss’ books and participate in different activities for 15 different books.

Dr. Seuss Lesson

* Students will be able to produce Cat in the Hat hats.
* Students can identify and list the some basic facts on Dr. Seuss.
* Students will produce an illustration and paragraph about Sue Snue.
* Students can sign their name and write a note to Dr. Seuss.

Meeting and Reading Dr. Seuss

The standard that is being addressed is: Demonstrate competence in the general skills and strategies of the reading process.

Teaching Short-Vowel Discrimination Using Dr. Seuss Rhymes

Students will: Identify rhyming words in a story, Discriminate between short u and o sounds, Produce rhyming words when given a keyword in the word family, Blend onsets and rimes aloud to create words, Sort pictures based on their rimes.

Reading Everywhere with Dr. Seuss

Young readers celebrate all the places they can read by creating a classroom book modeled after Dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham.
