Veteran’s Day, a Chance to Honor Those Who Served Our Country

# The students will be able to understand that many of the liberties we enjoy in America today were earned by the patriotism shown by veterans.
# The students will recognize some of the symbols, songs and pledges that represent our country and which have a very special significance to veterans.

Veterans Day

This is a day where we should pause and consider the sacrifices made
by those serving in the U.S. military. Ceremonies and celebrations are held across the United States to make this
recognition. While there is, of course, nothing in the bible that talks about this day, children can learn that we
should be happy and rejoice in those that made our lives better by serving for our country.

The Wall Inspires Letters to Veterans

Eve Bunting’s The Wall inspires students to write letters to veterans at local veterans’ hospitals.

Veterans Day is celebrated in the United States today.

Today, the United States honors those soldiers who have fought for their country in military service. Across America, ceremonies are held to commemorate the efforts of our armed forces past and present, and to remind us of both the strength and the compassion of our country.
