I was going to write a short commentary about this student; however, if it is true that a picture is worth a thousand words, it should be enough to let the picture speak for it self and you to wonder about the student, parent and the homework that was assigned.

This is not a picture of Nancy's son. It is rather a picture of a child and a mother at the Tarpon Turtle. The mother brought with her the boy's homework. Her son obviously wanted to do something different.

Kyle, Nancy's son is a student that dropped out of high school. Howard Lacy, an apprentice master at Ford and I tried to involve Kyle in an education process. But, he wouldn't get out of bed until after 1:00 p.m. After multiple attempts, we both got frustrated and gave up. You, hopefully, still have them in the classroom. We couldn't even get Kyle out of bed. So, I'm just going to wish you the best and leave it at that.

It has now been over 2 years since then. Kyle has not yet earned a G.E.D..
