The students will practice writing a narrative work as they explain how the Grinch became the way that he did. They will explain how his heart became two sizes too small and why he hated Christmas so much. Over the course of four lessons, the students will recall event from “The Lorax” and solve problems related to littering and pollution. Who would have thought that Dr. Seuss’s books are perfect for the middle student? The Lorax is a perfect springboard for classroom discussions, debates, and activities for this age student. Teacher will read the story “I Can Lick 30 Tigers Today!” from the Dr. Seuss book of the same title. I think that this book is easy enough for my first grade class to understand. It is also an entertaining selection. |
