Students will “adopt” a tree and throughout the year will record and examine its characteristics and the changes that it goes through. No matter which of the activities below you select or the equally good ones you come up with yourselves, the important thing is to enjoy the book and Lowry’s skill in creating such memorable characters. Students will research sources to select words, such as terms, place names, or people names, for each letter of the alphabet to best convey the history of the Holocaust. This project will promote an awareness of environmental issues and ways in which each student can help to improve our earth. Research will be done by students on a variety of topics and students will create a big book about the environment which includes an index. |
