This unit gives students an occasion to extend their communicative competence in informal settings. It provides them with experience in learning and using language “chunks” and negotiating meaning with native speakers. Students also have the chance to present their work to the mainstream peers and join in group response at an appropriate time.
This activity provides a fun and exciting method through which children can explore and internalize graphing skills. Specifically, the students will discover what color Valentine Candy is found more often than any other in a standard bag of “Valentine Conversation Hearts.” The lesson takes approximately sixty minutes and is most effectively used in connection with Valentine’s Day.
The students will be able to follow directions to glue the pieces in the correct places to complete the project
The students will be able to:
* have control over their fine motor skills in using scissors precisely.
* decorate their art demonstrating their own creativity.
Write a story that includes the text of the candy conversation hearts you chose.
