Initial and Final Sounds With Dr. Seuss’ Hop on Pop

Given a flip book with preprinted final sounds, students will write the initial sounds of rhyming words on left side flip pages. Using flip books, students will recognize rhyming words have the same final sound but different initial sounds.

Materials Needed: marker and pencil per student 1 piece of 81/2 X 11 piece of paper (per student) chart paper Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss 1 bound flip book with preprinted final sounds (per student) Make flip books using oak tag for best results.

    It would be great to see a finished product! I am doing this lesson plan for my first grade class tomorrow and am looking forward to it!
