In our work on westward expansion we study why and how people moved across the country in the pioneer days. This is an extension of that idea using the story of Johnny Appleseed. Students * find and identify coordinates of points in a drawing on graph paper Students create descriptive autumn similes and write them on fall-themed paper. Students measure the weight of a container of leaves daily to discover how quickly it grows lighter as the foliage dries. An ideal source for an adorable bulletin board that features student work, this activity gets kids to consider “resolutions” for the new school year! |
