“What Insect Am I”

Familiarize the students with the different parts of an insect. In this one hour game, kindergarteners will use information given to them as clues from index cards to identify different types of insects placed in front of them.

What Are Ecosystems?

1. observe and describe habitats within ecosystems
2. observe and identify organisms with similar needs that compete for resources
3. describe environmental changes which cause organisms to thrive, become ill, or perish
4. describe how organisms modify environment to meet their needs

Termite Trails

Termites are small, soft bodied, usually pale-colored insects. These are social insects with a caste system. They live in colonies in the ground or in wood.

Spooky Spiders

The student will be able to describe the characteristics of a spider.
·The student will be able to classify whether a spider is an insect or arachnid by analyzing its characteristics.
·The student will be able to describe and name the types of webs that spiders weave.
·The student will be able to explore and explain why a spider does not stick to its own web.

Little Me In A Big World

Over a three or four day period while looking at obstacles that humans and insects encounter, students will predict, observe and record strategies to overcome them using discussions, role play, and charts.
