What made Martin Luther King Jr. an American hero? What events in his life contributed to his importance to our country? Students refine their knowledge of MLK’s life through the creation of classroom timelines and oral presentations. In this activity each student imagines he or she is one of these former leaders who has come back to visit. Ask students to think about what these leaders represented and to write a speech as if they were one of these leaders who has returned for a visit today. Walk with Martin Luther King, Jr. on his historic march on Washington, hear parts of his inspirational speech, ?I Have a Dream? and envision your own dreams of freedom for all Americans and the people of the world. |
