Is Racism Dead?

Students explore the events of 1957 and 1958 at Little Rock High School, conduct a survey of racial harmony at their school, create a graph displaying the results of the survey, discuss racial attitudes today.

The Black History Rap

Students will: learn about famous Black Americans in history; learn how the rap form compares to other forms of poetic expression; write rap lyrics to summarize the life of a famous person in Black History; and, perform their raps.

African-American Hall of Fame

Students will develop questions to guide an Internet research project. Students will use print and nonprint sources to find the answers to their questions. Students will create and deliver speeches telling why their subjects should be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Students will share their findings in creative museum displays.

365 Days of African-American History

Students will: create or modify a calendar template, research events in African American history, write one event for each day of the year on a calendar.

Lesson Plan : Black History Month

Students will partner read a biography from a selection of well-know african-americans. -Students will list the key accomplishments of the individual and how they changed our society. -STudents will create a poster to share with others what they have learned about the contributions of these great citizens.
