A Close Look at Mexico

Since Mexico is such a close neighbor to the United States, one may find oneself curious of its culture. For those who have been curious enough to visit, there are usually no regrets for time well spent. Mexico has much to offer culturally. Its population is diverse and through the years, they have produced fine literature, art, and music. Moreover, because of Mexico’s closeness, the United States is easily able to relish its cuisine.

Identify Mexico

Identify each location on the globe of Mexico. The cities, its capitol etc. with the children.

Mexican Holidays

Students will do the following:
1. Research one of two Mexican holidays, Day of the Dead and Cinco de Mayo
2. Present important facts about the holiday to the class
3. Host an in-class celebration that reflects the dress, music, food, and traditions of that holiday

The Aztecs — Mighty Warriors of Mexico

Who were the Aztecs? Where and when did they live? What was their culture like? What were their major religious beliefs? What was their capital city like? What happened to them?
