I used this lesson with my children after the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01. We are an upstate community of New York and have been hard hit by these horrific events. My students needed some type of pro-active activity to help them cope.
To identify the location of a state, compare population sizes from various states, learn the state bird, flag, and location on the map.
Students will be able to name the number of stars, the number of red stripes, the number of white stripes, and name what each represents.
