After listening to Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch stole Christmas, students create a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting the two main characters.

Lesson Plans - 6th GradeStudents use torn paper to create a Christmas scene. The rough edges and vague details create a unique and interesting picture. The students will practice writing a narrative work as they explain how the Grinch became the way that he did. They will explain how his heart became two sizes too small and why he hated Christmas so much. This activity allows students to practice their map drawing skills while using their imagination. There is no right or wrong answer as students create a map of Santa’s home, workshops, and barns.
