CHINESE NEW YEAR

This unit will teach students about the customs and culture of Chinese New Year.

The Chinese New Year – a lesson plan

To give extensive & intensive reading practice – stages 2, 3, 4
To give freer speaking practice – stages 1, 4
To review & expand vocabulary connected to describing character – stage

Chinese New Year Celebration

Students Will:

1. Assist in planning and preparing for the celebration.
2. Work together cooperatively in small and large groups.
3. Have fun!

Story of Silk

Students will learn the steps in the silk-making process. They will arrange sequencing cards to illustrate the steps. Later students will unravel a silkworm’s cocoon.
