The student will be able to present a PowerPoint presentation defending their opinion that either money should be spent on a telescope like Hubble or it should be used for immediate needs here on earth.

Technology and the African American Inventor

The purpose of this lesson is to create an awareness and understanding that important technological advances within our culture, in a variety of areas, are the result of the work done by a diverse group of people, many of whom are African Americans. To this end, students will be actively involved in discussions, research, and sharing sessions. Between six and ten class periods will be necessary for this lesson.

From Peanuts to Peanut Butter

This lesson is a creative way to introduce young learners to the accomplishments of scientist and inventor George Washington Carver. The students get to experience a variety of products created from peanuts.

Creatively Creating Expository Essays

The student uses volume, stress, pacing, enunciation, eye contact, and gestures that meet the needs of the audience and topic.

Continuation of the Revolution

This is Lesson 2 in the Industrial Times unit. Students research information on inventions that occurred during the second part of the Industrial Revolution. They write and publish articles on a selected invention.
