Lesson Plans - Character EducationThis activity encourages students to become contributing, consensus-building members of their classrooms. Children thrive in an environment where they are active participants in their learning. Working at home with their parents, students draw glimpses of their personal lives on a planning sheet, and use it in the class to create stapleless books about their lives that they then share with their classmates. By sharing information on their lives and dreams, students and teachers can build community in the classroom that will support literacy instruction throughout the school year. This wonderful ice breaker, for the first day of class, will help students to look at themselves in relationship to others, and to get to know each other |
