Lesson Plans - MathematicsStudents make a LADYBUG art item using math vocabulary and measurements of circles. Previously written Haiku poems are affixed to the LADYBUG for a Spring display. Teacher will read the story “I Can Lick 30 Tigers Today!” from the Dr. Seuss book of the same title. I think that this book is easy enough for my first grade class to understand. It is also an entertaining selection. This lesson is intended to be a fun review of basic math facts. In grades 3 and 4 students are expected to retain basic math facts and sometimes do not have practice using them. With such an emphasis on testing, students tend to sit at their desk and do pencil and paper computation. There is nothing wrong with that, but it can get boring! Students will practice counting using baby chicks and easter eggs Review addition, subtraction, and learn problem-solving skills. |
