In our work on westward expansion we study why and how people moved across the country in the pioneer days. This is an extension of that idea using the story of Johnny Appleseed. Students will discuss what it might have been like when, and where, their parents and grandparents grew up. The students will conduct interviews to see if their guesses were right. They will conclude by drawing pictures of their relatives living in this time and place. |
