Over the course of four lessons, the students will recall event from “The Lorax” and solve problems related to littering and pollution.

Barbaloot Suits: Preserving Biodiversity

In this lesson, students will learn about how and why Olson studies plants. Students will compare a situation in which farmers unknowingly destroyed a plant species with the conservation themes outlined in Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax, and then summarize the Seuss work through illustration.

Long-Stemmed Lilies

Lilies symbolize hope and the miracle of new life. Celebrate the arrival of spring, or learn about Easter traditions, with these regal botanical beauties.

Story of Silk

Students will learn the steps in the silk-making process. They will arrange sequencing cards to illustrate the steps. Later students will unravel a silkworm’s cocoon.

So Many Inventions!

Students listen to two books about Chinese inventions. Then they make a simple compass. Later students look at home for Chinese inventions, bring them to school, and make a display.
