Students will do the following:

Who were the Aztecs? Where and when did they live? What was their culture like? What were their major religious beliefs? What was their capital city like? What happened to them?
It is said that the Aztecs chose the site of their capital, Tenochtitlan, because of the presence of a bird perched on a cactus and eating a snake. In this lesson, students will learn about that ancient Aztec legend and about how Tenochtitlan became the site of modern-day Mexico City.
What do some of Mexico’s major holidays tell us about the country’s religious and political history?
Explore daily life in Mexico, particularly the practice of the midday siesta.
