In this lesson about music inspired by the spooky and bizarre, students will learn about orchestra “program music” by exploring the works of Hector Berlioz and Camille Saint-Saëns. Students will learn about Symphonie Fantastique and Danse Macabre, identify and analyze the musical terms and concepts in each piece, and then write a short story and create a class mural based on their listening experiences.
To have children partake in a fun and active Halloween activity.
This is a small group instructional activity in which students sort, classify and tell about what characteristics they sort individually wrapped candy.
To imitate action words in the story. To engage in cumulative movement patterns.
To practice the manipulative skills of overhand throwing, underhand throwing, backhand throwing, and striking, as well as the fundamental motor skill of pushing. The emphasis will be on the eye-hand coordination component of temporal awareness.
